Old notebook and handwritten lyrics

This is me, slowly unpacking a shoebox of memories.

I've been writing songs for most of my life. Some were written for people I love. Some for people I once loved. Some came from loss, friendship, faith, family or moments I was trying to understand. And some, if I'm honest, I've had to rediscover before I could even remember why I wrote them.

For years they lived in notebooks, folders, old recordings and memory — scattered pieces of a life rather than anything resembling a catalogue.

Between the Lines is where I unpack them.

A song might begin with a handwritten page I haven't looked at in thirty years. An old photograph. A cassette. A name. A line of lyric that suddenly brings back the person I was when I wrote it.

Sometimes the story is clear. Sometimes I have to piece it together. And occasionally I find something I'd completely forgotten was there.

This isn't intended to be a finished archive. I'm building it as I go — taking each thing out of the box, looking at it properly, remembering what I can, and giving it a place.

The recordings are elsewhere on this site.

This is the stuff between the lines.
